2nd Boss Help

I finally made it through the first BOSS ... but the second screen, I haven't figured out what I am supposed to be hitting. I know the little box closes the jaws in the middle, but what should I be targeting?

Fire away at the actual boss who's ninjaing around the walls and ceiling. After a certain number of hits, he'll fall straight to the ground... if the ground is what's below him!

Guess my aim is off!!! Cause I thought I was hitting him, but obviously I need to get better! I'll keep working at it. Thought I was missing something else.
